Fedora Heap | Biography
Past to Present
Fedora Heap is the name of a danish electronic pop band, consisting of Sune Andersen and Anders Gronborg. The band was initiated (in current form) by late 2008, in the heart of Aalborg (Denmark) - as a result of two old friends' reunion, and many years of talking about having their music published.

The story actually began many years earlier - back in the seventies. At this time the two were only young boys - and quite extraordinary kinds. Anders in particular, was not the most ordinary child you would ever meet, he was very determined in his ways of doing thing, and almost everything he sat his mind to do - he did, one way or the other. Already in his very early years, his enthusiasm towards music was very clear. He started playing both the trumpet and piano, when he was only 8 years old. Later he got quite fascinated by the enormous sound and music possibilities the world of synthesizers could provide.

Anders started playing these types of instruments during his teenage years, largely inspired by all the great electro-pop artists on the European music scene. During this period he started his first band with his youth-friend, Peter Ebildholt. Unfortunately for the two young people and their ambitious dreams, Peter got sick and died suddenly. This loss came as a great chock to Anders, and after this he totally lost interest in the music for quite some years. Just until the day he met Thomas Simoni again, as he was also a friend from his teenage years. Thomas has also been very fond of music his whole life, but actually didn't start playing any instrument until a few years ago, where he invested a lot of his spare time learning both the guitar and synthesizers.

After working on the bands debut album for almost a year, unfortunately - once again - Anders is left on his own with his music ambitions, as Thomas Simoni decides to leave the band for very personal reasons. This time though, the work on the debut album has progressed so far, that Anders decides that this time he will not let anything else stand in the way. He therefore starts searching for a replacement for Thomas, and only a few weeks later the right person appears, actually right in "the backyard" - as the new found keyboard player - Allan Bjerregaard - is already a very good friend of Anders.

Allan do, at this time, not have much experience with playing keyboard, although he did play some piano in his younger years. In return, he has during some auditions that was held, both shown the necessary musical skills and not least, a commitment and drive towards success. Therefore Anders did not have any doubts, that Allan was the right musician to replace Thomas. So, once again the band and the upcoming album debut is luckily back on track.

By the summer of 2010, the band is looking for a new keyboard player, primarily to assist on live acts. Along comes Sune Andersen, a local guy from Aalborg, that Anders knows from his neighborhood. Even though the purpose of Sune joining the band, was only to play the keyboard on live performances, soon after the three guys decides to accept Sune as a full member of the band. Fedora Heap becomes three.

Unfortunately, in the summer of 2011 - one year later - Allan Bjerregaard decides to leave the band, and once again Fedora Heap is reduced to a duo. Anders and Sune are therefore now looking for a substitute for Allan, but haven't yet succeeded in doing so.

The two band members are today very conscious about their goals, and are highly ambitious towards continue making music and playing to the audiences wherever possible. The band successively released their four star debut album on 9th. September, 2010. Furthermore, now more than one year after this debut release, Fedora Heap is working on their second album, expected to be released by spring 2012. On 24th. November 2011 a single release "Roses Fade Away" from this upcoming album will be available. Soon after the new album release, the band will be planning for a follow-up tour.

The first album "Into the Sun" provided a degree of retro-feeling, directly inspired by the 80's synth pop, whereas the upcoming album will have a visibly more contemporary sound universe, but - just as the debut album - still with a melodic touch of melancholy. The lyrics are both at odds with the everyday trivialities of life - but also reaches into the deeper parts of life. Vocals on all tracks in Fedora Heap are performed by Anders Gronborg.
